Passenger's side door mirror intermittent bug

After owning the LS430 for about 6-8 months or so, sometimes when I start the engine and put it in reverse, that mirror does not move down automatically anywhere near enough. If I put it in drive the mirror moves but nowhere near it's supposed to. It's just pointing at a weird angle and I can't see much. If I try and adjust it I only get a very small amount of movement. It only affects the passenger's side mirror.

Switching the engine and ignition completely off then back on straight away always fixes it. It happens every couple of weeks or so. Not a big drama but has anyone else here had that problem?

A good plan is to pop out and clean the contacts on the power mirror switch. Its a bit goofy and being plastic, just be careful.

Lol I had mine backwards after I put it back together :-) theres a walkthrough on the forum to give you an idea.

Very odd issue

When I first purchased my 05 UL my wife could not adjust the passenger side mirror to get a correct angle for her. The mirror would not 'tip in' enough when the drivers seat was further forward than it is for me. I am tall, she is not.
I checked it over and could find nothing wrong with the switches or mechanisms. While preparing to remove the mirror glass to disassemble the mirror I saw a bit of metal behind the mirror glass in the lower inside corner of the mirror assembly.
I then adjusted the mirror outward, reached in with a pair of hemostats and grabbed the metal piece I saw with the hemostats. I was then able to extract a mini Bic cigarette lighter from behind the mirror glass.
Of course that fixed the issue, happy wife, happy life.
How in the heck does a cigarette lighter find it's way inside the mirror? It was not very rusty and it still worked, no way it came from Japan that way. Back in the 60's a weird clunk noise inside a car door was an empty gin bottle from the factory.
Only thing I can figure is a teenager stuck it in there to vandalize the car. Or the PO did not like their wife driving their LS. More likely my second guess is correct.
But hey the lighter still worked.

The up/down movement on my right-hand mirror stopped working around 2 years ago. Left-right still works fine. Years before that, I successfully cleaned the contacts on the power mirror switch when the mirrors were not auto-tilting down or otherwise not functioning correctly. I tried the contact switch cleaning at that time 2 years ago and no go, pretty sure the motor is dead this time.

I never need to move the mirror up or down otherwise, anyone else who drives my car is near the same height, so all I lose is the auto-tilt-down in reverse. It's a very low priority item for me but I believe others here have had the same motor die. I recall a thread here where someone took apart the mirror housing and replaced the motor - it is the same motor as the auto-door-closer, and I have 3 or 4 spare motors after repairing the auto-closer (got a bulk pack on Amazon).
