Were you able to negotiate any based on the timing belt issue?

Yes. I was able to get ~10% off of asking price. Paid 10.5K cash.
My plan is to gradually restore this one after timing belt job. Some minor interior upholstery work, and exterior clear coat on the trunk and driver side door trims, stone chip touch-up, head light restore. Should be fun!

I'm about 10 K miles in to ownership, I just love my LS. I got the car where the previous owner said options? I'll take all of them. I am still sorting small issues and just completed doing the front hubs. Blissful silence going down the road now.
The last Lexus we had was a 98 GS300, I looked at LS's then, they did not have a nice CPO and the GS was virtually a new car. We did have lots of issues with tire pressure until the dealer finally agreed to have the wheels stripped and replated. Dealers would routinely have the powder coated factory wheels chromed and add a grand to the price of the car. The quality of the plating was suspect. The GS was a great car. I love the LS more. While the GS was a luxurious car, it was not a luxury car. It was pretty much my wife's car. It would have been fun with a good turbo and sport suspension. As it was stock? It was a good wife's car.

Very nice find and nice looking car. I keep thinking I'd find one with that many miles for only $8k, but I'm probably dreaming. Welcome to the club and welcome to Lexus. Thanks for sharing.

. Great looking car! Congrats. With our cars really getting on in years prices vary tremendously. You can now find 01-06 cars from $2500-$12,000. Of course the real exceptional cars bring the high end of these values. Still there are a few owners that believe their cars are gold and ask silly prices only to find out over time people are only willing to pay just so much for a fairly old 4 Dr sedan regardless of its reliability and even condition. There are many choices out there with newer technology and not a tremendous amount of fanatics as found on this forum willing to pay the highest prices.

Before I scrub headlights, pretty yellow.
After some toothpaste, much better. Not perfect yet but I can accept it now, lol! Will properly restore them later!
Also washed all seatbelts today! What a tedious task that was! But now I feel much better in the driver seat with clean seat belt.
