Post Ls 430 diesel engine noise from cabin

Hello guys. I have a strange noise coming from the interior of my ls430. The noise is similar to that of a diesel engine. Cant hear the same noise from outside. Has anyone here experienced something similar? If yes please help. Cheers.

Does it only occur when the engine is running?

Does it vary in sound when the accelerator is pushed? When speed changes when driving?

Does it change or go away when you turn the interior fan / AC off?

Probably a fan motor.

Yes , the sound comes on when the engine is running.

You notice it only when the car is fully stopped. Can't here it when you drive at normal speeds.

It doesn't change when the A/C is turned off.

My first thought too...

You said you cant hear it from the outside, but if you pop the hood can you hear it in the engine bay?

You really can not point where it is coming from? Front or back, left or right? Under the dash? From the back seat? There are only a few places inside the car that can make any noise, but the noise is not heard outside the car.

I feel like the OP can help himself a bit more here. Without a video or at least general location where that noise coming from, I am not sure how much help we all can be. It is not like we can sit in his car...

Well , no. You cant hear it from the engine bay. You hear it only when you are inside the cabin; you notice it more when you are in the front seats. Looks like it comes from the center console area.

The noise comes from the centre console area. You notice it more when you are seated in front. I've checked with many garages and none of them could help me out with this. The noise is still there even with the a/c and seat ventilation turned off. I could hear the same noise from the engine bay as well actually. Sometimes I do get a smell of burnt gasoline outside the car though. Like many of you guys have said I suspect it has something to do with the exhaust.

Maybe I should make a video and share it here. Don't know if it will be noticeable though. Let me try to capture a video of it.
