new vehicle
My wife is going to lease an SUV for 3 years. I am asking you folks on insight into SUVs.
What are your thoughts and experience with these SUVs
so far she has driven the Acura MDX, Jeep Grand Cherokee and tomorrow the Lexus RX, Lincoln MKX and Mazda CX9 as soon as the ice storm gets cleaned up.
It's not a long term vehicle and I know zip about SUVs so any input would be awesome.
Thanks

I drove the RX and think it's not a good vehicle from my standpoint. My buddy has gone through this drill, drives a Navigator L, and his choice, is the Highlander. When I drive behind a MDX, two things strike me. How cheap the exhaust is, and how cheap the suspension looks. I get that 90% of the people out there could care less (about the underpinnings it's more the features and what's inside), it's all about decontenting. I just find those things hard to ignore. I would consider the new Ford Explorer (all new) and maybe the Kia and Hyundai big boys. my .02

I said I think it's awful. The interior is cheap, the steering wheel has zero feel (I then used my pinkie to turn it from center to one lock, to the other lock, then back to center), and it's overpriced.
He almost started laughing and said we can give you a huge discount because we have too many L's. So I said well the screen is nice but I wouldn't be able to make any decisions without my wife.
I do know that at least the last time I test drove a BMW, there isn't any sales pressure. Maybe it's worth a shot.

Thanks for all your input.
There are so many good vehicles now it's really hard to get it wrong ! The choices are almost overwhelming unless you know what you want, which my wife doesn't, and it appears that choosing between so many equal vehicles is also difficult for her.
I'm going to try and talk her into the Lexus RX 350. She can lease it for 3 years and if she doesn't like it I'll be happy to drive the car ( if I'm willing to give up my 22 year-old LS LOL ) and she can go buy anything else she wants.

My wife came out of Lexus GX and was going to get an RX...she test drove one and didn't like it. She bought a new Acura MDX and is loving it. It does eveything well .....good size, 3 rows etc. I have friend w Macan's and Cayenn'es and they love them. How about a Jeep SRT...that would put a smile on your face!

The rx is an awesome vehicle my wife loves hers, she likes its not super "attention grabbing" like the LS its also not as big as the GX or the LX. The car handles great in snow with the correct tires, I would buy another one in a heart beat.
