Default P1340 Timing belt ate through camshaft sensor wire

Pretty frustrated right now. I was on the highway and in the wrong lane going to the wrong exit, so I speed up in order to avoid the guy behind me from hitting me and get in to the right lane. Well I must have hit something on the road because immediately after, my check engine line, check vsc, and traction off lights all went on. Upon further inspection I see that the sensor itself is not affected, however you can clearly see that the wire that splits off into another direction was eaten through by the timing belt.

I'm not sure if I am explaining it properly but this wire in particular leads into the engine block, which looks tedious to repair, and I'm wondering what I can do about it without having to go through the dealership.

It's really not that tough. It doesn't lead into the engine block but there is a timing cover (circled) that needs to be removed. There's a rubber grommet in the cover that, once removed, allows the elec connector to pass through. The electrical connector itself might be the most frustrating part of this. It's one that just happens to be particularly stubborn to get apart!

The wire that passes through the rubber grommet, what does it connect to? Is that tricky at all?

It's the lead wire for the sensor which mounts next to the timing pulley. The cover can't be removed until the connector is pulled apart. There's a clip inside the cover that hold the wire in place and keeps it away from the moving parts. Your wire must have somehow become dis lodged from the clip...

Like others have posted, pretty easy to pull it out and repair the wires or just replace it.

Thank you guys for the help, it means a lot to me knowing there are people with this kind of knowledge willing to share. I won't be able to work on it right now as it's 40f out right now, but I should be able to work on it soon!
