I don't get the appeal nor the $50k value. Sitting is the worst thing for a car. Unless you are some sort of Lexus collector (which I don't see how these cars have any real collectibility value) as soon as you start putting miles on this car the value goes way down. To me its a loosing situation no matter what. Cool time capsule though.

Hendrick has a HUGE car collection and it has no doubt received superb care. 50 large is a bit steep, but for someone who has always wanted a new 3rd generation LS, it's a unique opportunity.

I don't get it... Not a collectible, and as was stated, as soon as you drive it, the value plummets....

I would agree not collectable, but I suppose for the wealthy these are toys. Toyota Motor should definitely have a zero mile LS430 in their collection. Better yet, a SC430...

Car that instantly needs a timing belt, all fluids, fuel service, tires, etc. Buy a brand new car that needs almost $2,500 in work in order to make it reliable.
Check their other auctions though... some pretty cool cars for sale.

Sitting is not the worst thing for a car. Driving it everyday, wearing it out is. Accidents are much worse! Lots of things are worse for a car than letting it sit. In fact...sitting a car is the best thing you can do for a car...hence old cars sit.

Rubber parts are going to deteriorate whether it is used or sitting. So really we are just talking about metal parts, fluids and paint. Best you can hope for is a climate controlled garage.

I'd certainly take this 2002 with 640 miles over just about any other 2002. Except for the price...

We can agree to disagree.to me not having fluid circulating around an engine regularly for 16 years is not a good thing. Luckily, this may be a special circumstance because it is a private collection that probably has caretakers who start cars and keep them in proper order. If not, this will take a few thousand to get it safe on the road. Tires, hoses, belts I would imagine seals are dried out from sitting so long but who knows but then again if you are someone looking to spend $50k on a 16 year old LS430 I'm sure a couple grand won't bother you. . I personally would prefer a 2002 with like 60k miles on it that has been regularly driven but not too many miles. This 640 mile car would be cool to have as a novelty though, good conversation piece.
