How does a LS 400 compare to a 430 ?, I am willing to give some things up for a better look. I want a rear wheel drive and the RL is not it........

I found a 400 in good shape about a hundred miles away, I know the 430 is a better car but I am looking at a 2000 year 400 with 121 thousand miles and it looks good with a clean carfax for a pretty good price. I actually prefer the looks, the 400 in silver with the silver rims looks good but the one I am looking at is white with grey interior.

I know I would be a trader but thanks for any help....

LS430 way more sophisticated over LS400 in addition to 12 years newer but still ancient.

Is the 400 easier to take care of and diagnois a problem ? cheaper and easier to keep running correctly ? I saw some on the net done up with rims and stuff and they looked really boss for sure.......

The 430 is so much more car for the money used as in not even close but long term does the complexity make the car alot harder to keep up compared to a 400. You can get a killer 430 for about 10 grand and what you get is alot but does the average person really want it if they plan on keeping the car long term and are more interested in reliability.

I saw some really done up 430's as well that looked great but the headlights are kinda funky on this car.....

The average person absolutely does not want a V8 that uses premium and tends to get < 20 mpg around town. If you tell someone about this, they will think you're off your rocker. A typical large sedan (Camry Accord blah blah blah) is tooling around town getting 26+, which we can barely beat (I can get 28) on the highway. In 2016, the choice was used 2006 LS430, or 2014 Camry CPO, with 35k (all 35k and soon to go out of warranty), same price. 98/100 people would chose the Camry! The other 2 are likely on this forum!

That is so true. My neighbor think that my LS looks better than his brand new Corolla. And my LS is definitely cheaper lol

I got tons of compliments when I first got my 2001 LS. One guy saw it and said he was now probably the oldest vehicle in the lot. So I asked him how old his truck was and he said 2007!! He couldn't believe mine was a 2001, and mine doesn't look half as nice as what I see on this forum.

I drove over a hundred miles today one way to take a look at a 2000 LS 400 just to get a idea of a starting point. I know nothing about these cars, This car had lots of metal in the body for sure.....

The U.S. pubic apparently doesn't care about gas mileage. Car manufacturers are currently dropping compact sedans out of their lineup like hot potatoes. They're going to SUV's, while pickups are the biggest sellers and actually being threatened by their excessively high price. Go figure.

Thats why you can get such a deal on these old luxury cars. Florida is the place as well, you have these old people who buy these and put them in a garage and just use them to get groceries and drive to the hospital for electro shock to keep the old ticker going.

I bought a Acura RL on Saturday and wanted to check it out on a drive once set up to see how the mileage was and how the car drove with the correct Michelins put on it. The Acura dealer looked at this car and said they thought nobody had ever sat in the back seat. Everything worked like brand new, for cars like this FL is a great place.

I am one of those "old people" (actually 80) with congestive heart failure and only a few years left. My 04 UL has 135,000 miles and I would not trade it even-up for a new 2019 ES350 that the dealer gave me as a loaner to drive while having service done last week. My car is pristine, with all service done by Lexus except for tires and batteries. Recently had the drivers seat custom reupholstered as an exact match to the OEM. I'll let my kids fight over it, as I have no intention of squandering some of their inheritance on a new car that I think is inferior.
