Default does the peeling drip rail annoy you?

I have to admit it's getting me angry!

The driver side I managed to replace, long story short for free. So that's good for 8+ years.

The pass side began peeling last year, and I used clear packaging tape to protect it (sounds dumb but worked and it only ran along the inside edge. The rear end is intact, but the front end was lifting up again. For whatever reason, the package tape is not working lol

I almost got so angry that I was going to peel it all off, but that's a waste since the driver side is only 1 y.o. I think the 3M adhesive might work, problem is the film is not going to lay down perfectly anymore, it's got a strectched warped appearance. If the dang tape would stay put I'd feel ok. Not really sure why last year it worked, this year it won't stick. Maybe cuz it's different tape, but this is the 3M premium type of clear tape.....not sure what I used last year...

Had mine redone in gloss black vinyl. Looks great and was a lot cheaper than ordering new OEM units. Find a professional vinyl shop and let them do it. I paid $130 for both of them. Pics in my build thread.

Yeah that price is not bad at all.....my "issue" is the driver one is brand new, so now one new (ended up free), and one original....

I wonder....if my car were garaged 8 yrs, then not for 2 yrs. before me, and never again under my ownership, maybe it's a lack of being garaged? The driver side was already peeling when I bought the car in 2016, but then the pass side started last year. I never even looked at them until the LS430, so now I notice most cars have black ones, not body colored, so in the big picture it probably would be ok to peel the film off, but I don't want to, esp. since the driver side is < 1yr. old...

I've never had a problem on my 04 UL. Body color, but I've garaged it every day since 2007 when I bought it.

My drip rail on the drivers side is lifted up a little bit in the rear but I haven't noticed paint issues.

Noticed severe peeling on my 2002 that the ex has, but the 2004 that my mom drives, same color, seems to be fine. Both vehicles are garaged all the time.
Have the 2001 outside for a year and it shows no signs of peeling.

I wrapped mine in pearl white Avery vinyl. It's not a perfect match to 062 Crystal White but looks much better than a peeling roof rail and it didn't cost me much.

Just peel it clean and apply 3m blackout wrap $5 and 2yrs later no issues. Takes maybe 10 min. Per side.
