Default Chrome door strip removal

Does anyone know how to remove the lower 'chrome' horizontal external door strip on a LS430 without damage?

From the inside with the door panel removed it seems the plastic studs holding on the strip have an inner and outer part with the inner part pushing in and spreading the outer part to provide a fixing. From the outside does the strip itself consist of two parts with the outer strip popping off to leave the heads of the studs available to be popped out?

Despite spraying ACF-50 for the last three years I now have a dreaded rust patch breaking out around one of those studs on nearside front door.

That whole lower section/panel comes off. It's held with the 6 or 8 nuts (don't remember exactly how many) and a lot of double sided foam tape.

Thanks for the tip but the deco strips are attached independently of the the large plastic panel. They are held on by their own plastic studs through holes in the steel shell of the door and it is removing them without damage that I need advice on.

I have to correct myself, because the deco strip is on top of the lower plastic panel but there is still the row studs which have to be released.
