Here's Possibly a Decent Deal on a Custom Luxury

Sorry, don't know how to do a link to the Craigslist ad: 2003 black/black CL with 91,000 miles for $4900. The worst thing about it appears to be the start of rear wheelwell bubbling. It needs a few things, but overall seems to be a decent car for the money, especially given the mileage. It was posted today on the Cleveland Craigslist.

Bubbling on the wheel well at only 90k? That’s pretty disappointing honestly. Decent price though. Here’s the link

Rear bumper is dented, power telescoping steering wheel problem, power mirror problems. Did not mention any TB and WP (my guess is they are over due).

Bubbling on the wheel well - I wonder if this is an indicator of how much rust it has underneath. Cleveland has pretty long winter with plenty usage of salt.

Can be a good deal for someone who can DIY some of these, otherwise these can be expensive. The interior looks really good. I love the black leather and red wood paneling.

Great deal if you are a DIY'er. You can probably talk the buyer down a little bit more as I'm sure the TB hasn't been changed yet...

This post got me looking on my local Craigslist. This 05 LS makes me want to sell mine.. Ultra Luxury with saddle interior/flint exterior and the air suspension swapped for coils. With 78k miles..

The car in the photos is not a UL. No remote controls in the rear and also no rear A/C. Just because they call it a UL does not make it one.

Nice car. I'm glad it's far enough away that I can't test drive it. Flint is a great color. The saddle interior looks custom.

Maybe an ML.

I think that is a CL. It has the square thing on the bumper (headlight washer). I love saddle interior.

Yeah, definitely not a UL. It has to be a Custom Luxury since that was the only option package other than UL that was available with the saddle interior as well as the headlight washers and dynamic cruise. Also looks like the CL w/out PCS since it doesn't have the radar block as "L" emblem in the grill, so it would have to have the laser "eye" near the passenger side fog light.

It isn't a terrible car, but definitely needs some TLC. In addition to the problems BCT pointed out, the ad also says the wheels need to be refinished since the paint is peeling at the edges, and sure enough the wheels don't exactly look 'pretty' in the pictures. Also, I don't know how he confused the engine for a 4.2 liter... not like the name of the car model references the fact that it's a 4.3, and it definitely says 4.3 if he popped the hood at all.

Btw, you can post a link to anything just by copying the URL from the top of your browser window and paste it into your message. You don't need to worry about doing it the "fancy" way of making your link appear like Peacebay did, as long as you paste the link into your message we can all open it.

Weird ad there as one photo taken from the passenger side of the front interior clearly shows the console buttons of an Ultra, but other photos are plainly contra. The photos do depict a factory saddle interior though.

Thats what I was thinking! Well hopefully the ad is somehow fake so I’m not as tempted to pick this one up...

Good catch. You are very correct. The second picture, the one taken from the open front passenger door is of a completely different car! It has all 4 buttons in the bottom row to the left of the seat heater/cooler controls... rear sunshade, trac off, rear power seat button, and headlight washer. It also has different color dashboard and steering wheel plastic. The rest of the pictures in the ad show a very black steering wheel center and leather, and the second picture shows a grey color in these places. I also noticed the rest of his interior pictures show sunlight and shadows being cast from a uniform angle, and that janky second picture is in diffused lighting/not direct sunlight.

Mbodall Jul 1, 2018 05:51 AM

I'm kind of starting to doubt that is even a Custom Luxury... it almost seems like the seller is being knowingly shady with how he shot and cropped all of the pictures. All of the pictures of the front are cropped so that we can't see if it has the laser cruise control "eye", or there is just the right amount of shadows/darkness that we can't see that area. Also the angle of the interior pictures from the driver's side has the shifter and steering wheel blocking where the headlight washer button is/should be (would be directly to the left of the seat heater/cooler knobs). I don't know what sounds more outlandish and ridiculous... that he somehow swapped saddle leather and a front bumper w/headlight washers from a UL/CL into a lower trim level car and is trying to pawn it off for a premium to an unsuspecting buyer, or that he just "accidentally" posted a picture of not his car in his ad...
