The alternator is original on my 2006 with 63,000 miles.

Another 2006 I considered late last year had its alternator replaced at about that mileage, so they don't all last forever!

Going to Lexus....they tell me they almost never change an Alternator on an LS430 period. I wonder what was the issues for the few that have been replaced. Just wondering.

There you go! No one has really substantiated an Alternator replacement for the LS430........and even if some come up... bottom line is these Denso Alternators seem to last and last and last.. The same as the rest of this great car. Bulletproof.

05/110,000 miles. Original alternator. In 40 years of owning various makes of cars ( mostly Ford, VW and Honda), I’ve never had an alternator fail. Two on my old wood trawler dating to 1972 are still working fine (original diesel with 10,600 hrs runs good too).

I had 135,000 miles on original alternator. However, at that mileage I proactively replaced the brushes. The brushes are a factory Lexus part that are readily available and are a piece of cake to replace. Worn brushes are typically the thing that causes these Denso alternators to die. I have yet to have a Denso alternator die when proactively replacing the brushes. The bearings, voltage regulator, and rectifier are pretty durable on these alternators compared to other brands.

Well that's interesting to know! I would have never guessed that Lexus would provide brushes as a factory replacement part. The last car I replaced brushes on was a 1970 Opel Kadette with a generator (not an alternator). I drove that car for about 150K miles and in the time I owned it I replaced the brushes twice. But the generator itself kept on keepin on once the brushes were replaced.

What do we learn?

Seems we learn more when someone says they replaced at xxx,xxx miles.

2005 original at 116,000 now.

1996 LS400, replaced at 220,000 proactively! So there! More info you didn’t want. Will you survive?
