No doubting that it's had a hard life, but it does have 345,000 miles on it. I bet that timing belt has been on there for more than 90K.
It needs a good bath, but it's not a hopeless case, for the money he wants..

I got a kick out of the pic where only 1 digit of the license plate cannot be read (the owner was trying to obscure it). It's like an episode of Law and Order where the actor leaves obvious clues.
I actually don't find the price to be unreasonable, not for me, but for some, that's a disposable car. You take your chances, do nothing to it other than fluids, and if it fails, you junk it. I saw a 1998 Nissan Maxima with 161,000, for $1600, online. For us the state inspection is important (that can end the life of a vehicle). Car was a stick with new clutch. I personally know that when my Maxima was at 161k, it easily had 70k problem free miles ahead, again $1600 could be disposable and the car has a valid inspection through the end of this year.
But I am more curious about the "I bought a s500 for $3,000" or "I got the cheapest Porsche Turbo in the USA (Cayenne Turbo $6,100)" vids that I see on YouTube. Those cars are so nice....

a good day of detailing could make that car look so much better. Not sure about the premium gas error code excuse. Never personally heard of that. Ran both regular and premium in my first LS430 and never had any codes.

99% of cars will never even sniff 300k much less 345k. At this point why would you want to wash it? 10k oil changes probably won't hurt that engine either.
The cats are probably on their way out according to those error codes if they've never been changed before. Wouldn't be worth replacing those on this car at this point...

I bet he will be lucky to get 1500. If I was looking for a inexpensive car that I do not want to put money into like camry or accord with 150k well taken care of, this would not be an attractive purchase. If I was looking for an LS, not this one. But ya 345 k miles commendable somebody took care of it

I really get a kick out of the German cars where they say it depreciated 100k etc., and then they basically go through the features and mention what still works, what doesn't.
That Hoovie guy got a 99 Land Cruiser (lexus version) with 350k, AND ALL BUT 2 FEATURES WORKED!! I think he paid $2100? So with LS430's, it's kinda gonna be like that, most things work, maybe a couple things don't. On the Land Cruiser even the air suspension was fully functional. Think it was AC that had issues, forgot what the 2nd thing was, the hatch release I beleive. Seems like these japanese cars are not bad to get used...

precisely, a well cared for Camry, Corolla, LS, ES or RX with 150k miles is an excellent bargain and there are lots of them out there. They will provide years of economical and comfortable service, in all probability.
You MIGHT MIGHT have the same experience with German but you got lucky if you did.
