2001 LS430 -- No Sound...No Nothing
Issue: My wife's 2001 LS430 radio stopped working completely. At first we had trouble with the CD player. Then one day I tried to turn on the radio -- absolutely nothing. Not just no sound -- no nothing -- totally dead.
I've read a few posts regarding issues with the head unit and the amp -- frankly, I don't know which one is bad. BTW, she does have NAV.
Things I have done include:
1. Checked the fuse in the panel on the passenger's side floor (not sure if other fuses should be checked as well -- don't know of any)
2. Asked the dealer to determine if the head unit was receiving power -- they confirmed that power was being sent to the unit (sure seems odd to me with no outward evidence)
3. I've removed the head unit (86120-50590) -- have no idea how to test it to determine if it needs replacing or if the problem is the amp in the trunk of the car
I'm concerned about buying one off eBay since I'm not really sure it's the head unit -- I guess it could be the amp
Any suggestions on next steps would be much appreciated.
Sorry, I'm not much of a audiophile -- so, much of this is really Greek to me
Thanks for you time,
