I swear, no placebo effect here. Had the same results when the 90k service was done on my LS400. Took it from feeling "like new" to "like it just rolled off the assembly line" and got rid of a misfire at idle on rainy days. Also, no PWR switch on. No full 90k service either.

Just a replacement of the timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt, coolant, and hood struts. Absolutely nothing else (as far as I know). Not sure how this fixed my braking issue (felt like they were worn out though new and would stick for a second before engaging sometimes, usually on hills) --or improved performance-- but I'm glad it's gone.

I guess changing this thing is how I felt changing my BMW brakes at 49k. they really didn't need them, but since I already pulled the wheels and took the rotors off, I changed them all. Regardless of if we can afford it, part of it feels wasteful. The rears were about 75% gone so changing them got rid of a squeak squeak squeak. The fronts were not even 50%...
i just bought my car. Original owner 2005 UL with 60,000. Lexus had the complete history from delivery. I wouldn’t drive it from KC, MO back to Houston without changing the belt. Had it done the day I bought the car for age only. It’s 13 years old, and I don’t regret it one bit. Everyone operates in their own comfort level, that was mine.

The services you mentioned above will not alter or enhance how your engine operate, and definitely unrelated to your brake system. Nonetheless, your perception is your reality, so congratulations for the excellent outcome!

And that's the important thing. The car feels good and the problems have been alleviated..

Just my 2-cents worth to explain how a sluggish (initially unbeknown) engine can be restored by something as simple as a clean air filter.
2KHarrier and Gronemus, I apologize for debating that the 90K service “can” restore engine performance and address brake system issues. Turns out, Lexslexus confirmed that my speculation was incorrect, and that the brake service was not done, and the air filter was not replaced.

RKW, no need to apologize to me. You brought up valid points that might have been a factor that I overlooked. I'd say we're even...

I'll second that. I'm no expert by any stretch. As Gron stated, you brought out valid points. I'm just glad to read through a thread that isn't completely loaded with off topic comments ..

My dad was an aeronautical engineer, and as a teenager, everytime I changed his oil (man he trained me well, I should do the same with my son, he's 4 now, although times have really changed, I doubt more than 25% of HS students could even change a tire today), he told me each time, "the car runs much smoother now." He smiled, and winked. Whatever that meant (I did ask him decades later)

Now that they've been replaced, what a HUGE difference. The whole car feels MUCH stronger, way faster, acceleration is much quicker, and a braking issue somehow resolved itself. I'm saying all this to say, don't let your LS fool you. Go get the 90k service done.
Nice!! Does the horn honk louder and your headlights shine brighter too?

haha nice try, but the only way to get your headlights to shine brighter, is to top off the blinker fluid. And it does evaporate over time, so when my dealer offered to fill it for $495, you bet I had them do it. I had a 20% off coupon.

Sure, this stuff is $5.95 and maybe next time I'll DIY. But for the first time, I used Toyota WSIII, which cost 6X as much, but was worth it.

next time
