Default '04 UL Black on Black for Sale in NC

Just saw this for sale outside Charlotte, NC. '04 LS 430 UL package, black on black, 160k miles, asking $7,500 OBO. I think the black on black UL is hard to find so thought I'd share. Admins, if I'm posting this in the wrong place, please delete!

Confusing on the title status. Ad says clean title but description says total loss in 06.

Pretty clean car. If it’s a clean title, it’s a good deal.

Did you happen to see the license plate? I'd guess that what's in the description is likely to be correct. That is that the car was considered a total loss at one point very early in its life. The title could still be clean if it also indicates that it was rebranded. It appears that NC follows the following criteria...

The seller changed the ad after I shared some Carfax information with him, thereby demonstrating his honesty. He knew that the car had been in an accident at some point prior to his 2009 purchase and said that the paint on the right quarter did not match the rest of the vehicle. He did not, however, know the following details.

Per Carfax, the car was sold new in New Jersey and on 11/11/05 it was involved in a "...right side impact with another vehicle[.] Vehicle ran off road[.] It hit a utility pole[.] Right side primarily damaged[.] Airbag deployed[.] Further, per Carfax, on 1/11/06 it was labeled a "TOTAL LOSS VEHICLE" and title was issued to an insurance company. There is no indication on the Carfax report that the car does not have a clear title.

Whether the title was branded in New Jersey and later "washed" upon relocation to North Carolina is unknown. Perhaps someone knowledgeable about those states' title practices can chime in here.

The price for the NC Ultra was reduced to $6000 (firm) today, per the craigslist ad.
