Default Front Passenger side lock stopped working....

It started acting up last week and now will not move electronically......only by hand.
Is it the actuator?
If so......is it simple to replace the entire part after taking the door apart? (not just the motor which I have no interest in doing).
Will this fix have any affect on the smartkey?

Not soft door close.

thanks for any help!!!

It sounds like the motor in the actuator. It's not hard to replace the actuator as long as you follow the tips in this thread.

I don't think it will affect your smart key after swapping since there are no electronics that attach to it IIRC.

I'll say that I tried doing the motor swap on the actuators in my GS and I didn't have much luck (replaced my LS actuators as well). I had a problem trying to get the end bushing back onto the new motor shaft. I ended up pressing the shaft through the back side of the motor a couple times until I gave up. I ended up finding a guy on eBay that rebuilds all sorts of door actuators and he will sell you a complete rebuilt actuator in the $100 - $125 range depending on which one it is. They come with a "lifetime" (meaning the lifetime of his business) warranty so you should be able to get another if it fails. I ended up going that route and just replaced the whole actuator and not just the motor. That worked out better for me and I'll go back that route if another motor goes bad.
