Default Finally bought an LS!

So I've been looking at a lot of cars and hadn't found anything yet that got me to pull the trigger. I found one real nice low miles car but it had a few things not working and was just too much money. So I ended up going for and older and cheaper car, a 2002 LS430 in Parchment white with 160k miles. Has Lexus service records up til 133k miles and receipts from the last owner. All original body panels, no wrecks, all original glass except for the windshield which was replaced by the dealer with OEM Lexus windshield. Only had a little issues and was cheap so I went for it. I figured I could buy it and have some money to get it where I need to be and maybe even do a a few mods to make it my own and give it a little more updated style. Has some aftermarket wheels which I don't really dig but better than the 16's that came stock on this car I assume (the spare is a 16) Picked it up monday and I've already cleaned it up a bit, cleaned up the non-working mirror swtich and it works great now. Polished up one headlight and started to polish out a scuff on the right rear door/wheelwell that looked like just paint to me and low and behold its mostly come off with a little compound and a rag. I'll finish it up when I have more time. It runs great but definitely needs lower control arm bushings from what I can tell, front end is real sloppy but it moves good and rides pretty smooth. All the speakers work and sound great, just basic system with no navigation. Folding mirrors work, tilt and telescope works. I'm happy so far and can't wait to have a little fun with it. I attached a pic from the for sale ad. I'll get some new ones this weekend after cleaning it up some more

Very nice. I believe the 01 to 03's are overlooked on this forum. Most look for the 05 and 06's. Condition and service history are more important than year. Also, the non-nav cars are easier to upgrade with a double-din radio unit that has bluetooth, capability for rear view camera and other desirable features. Be well and enjoy it.

There is no perfect used car. You did right - buy older/low price and fix what's needed. At least then you know what was done and it was done correctly.

Yeah I kinda wanted a car without too many frills to go wrong. So many of the cars I looked at looked great but had a lot of issues with things not working. I do like that the audio is more easily upgraded, the thing I don't like is the kit pushes the radio out so far but I think that is because of the ac ducting behind the radio being in the way. I may look for a cleaner solution or something custom that keeps that area flush. I really did consider the records of the cars I looked at. I saw a few newer ones with bad records, or accident damage. I looked at one that was okay but all the Lexus service records were the customer refusing recommended maintenance and repairs. I'm sure they got the work done but not at the dealer. so yeah even though this car had higher miles, is an older car with older 5 speed transmission I like the fact that it is a bit less complicated (ie the trans has a dipstick etc)

Cool on the parchment 066, the paint code comes in handy in the future...I found my local dealer to be the best place for touch-up as he was actually cheaper than online and it got drop-shipped from Sherwin Williams Automotive (guess they make the paint for Lexus).....

Hey Daspyda, are you evacuating.....my friends in your area reached GA this AM and will stay until Sun., their original plan was to reach Birmingham, said FLA DOT in all their genius was paving I-75 yesterday causing a massive backup? Unreal....

That's FloriDUH for you...

I live in the center of the state (Lakeland), live on a hill, and we'll get some Tropical-force winds if this thing stays on its projected path. I'll take down my flag and break out the kite!

My daughter lives in Melbourne - probably a direct hit. But, she's a nurse, so it's all hands on deck at her hospital.

God bless those first responders...

Congrats on the purchase. Would love to have a parchment flavor, but few and far between on those types. Welcome to the club and enjoy the ride.

You must be in Houston... I think that car was in Cypress right down the street from me. I'm also looking for an LS430 but an 04-06 model. Congrats on the purchase!
