Default Driving with the NAV screen off

I have mine set to off in the config menu. If I make a change to the air speed or whatever I it the climate button again and turn it back off. The reason I have it off I was wondering if it might make the screen display last longer than always having it lite up all the time. Thoughts?

It times out on its own after a few seconds when you select climate and audio.

I keep it off for the same reason. Had to have the display redone. A climate or stereo change shows up on the display then times out. The top of the line GROM would be a nice upgrade. Downside is that it uses the stock NAV display.

I keep mine off as well, for the same reason as you stated. I never use the Nav on the car (use my smartphone). Mine does time-out if I use the climate or audio features.

My 04 UL does not time out. I literally leave my NAV screen on audio all the time so I can see the name of the CD and name of each song as they are played via my visa tech iPod.

I also have mine off for the same reason. I gotta check if mine times out when using the audio or climate.

Should remember that this was cutting edge technology when the car was new By "time out", I mean the display lights up briefly for volume change (a #) , CD change etc. then goes black again. Anyone that has a non NAV LS should consider replacing the stock radio head unit w/ a good after market stereo. Something w/ a high resolution display that connects to iPhone (or other) for music, state of the art NAV, etc.

That is why when I was looking, I was looking for one without navigation, that way I can upgrade. Haven't done it yet, though, but it will be easy.
