2 Issues - Door locks and Nav Dash
Suddenly my Navigation dash: Navigation, climate control, blue tooth, audio only works if I first put the car in reverse. If I take off without the need to be in reverse, non of the aforementioned work. Any ideas on this?
Also, my driver's side door lock is not working with keyless entry or locking. All of the other locks are still working well, as always. I'd love to hear from anyone who can tell if there is anything simple that can be done.

The second problem is probably going to be the door lock actuator motor. It's not a uncommon issue. Do a search and there are some threads on replacing the motor. Technically you should replace all 4 motors but I would at least do the front two doors.

I hadn't thought about the fact that I must pass over reverse to get to drive. It had been suggested to me that it could be the transmission but I see now that's not the case. Thanks for that.

I purchased my car used in Oct., and realized that 3/4 doors locked and unlocked with the fob, but not the driver door. It turned out to be the driver door actuator--which, luckily, the dealer was willing to fix for free (many here DIY, I believe it's $840 at the dealer). The odd thing I notice about the LS430, is that the actuators all click no matter how many times the button on the handles or the lock on the fob is pushed. All of our other cars will beep or flash every time the lock is pressed, even if already locked, but nothing happens mechanically. I dunno if this is just my car, or all LS430s. It just in my mind puts a lot of wear/tear on the actuators.
Anyway, prior to the fix, I could not unlock/lock with the handles. But once the actuator was replaced, that functionality came back. Good luck, I think the door is a common issue...the other is odd. Only thing I can think of is backing up triggers the camera, which would bring the screen to life maybe....
