Getting a second car- 04 LS430
That 04 Sports in Mesa looks like a good deal. I've texted several times. Sounds like the guy's really taken care of it. Always garaged home/work. New ceramic brakes. Dealer service records. Flint Mica (better than Cypress JMO). Ask is 11/best. He might take 10. I would seriously consider but I don't want to drive to AZ.
It's been listed for a couple of weeks. Hey 10.7 is still a good deal. He garages it (home and work). New better quality brake pads. Says he really hates to sell it. If I were closer, I'd def take a look.

Looks like it's a UL so that means it has air suspension correct?
I looked in Lexus Drivers and it has had regular oil changes. One door actuator replaced. Several batteries replaced. Timing belt done at 90k in 2013 and new engine mounts.
Also check engine lights for EVAP system. Isn't this common but pricey to fix on LS430's?

Looks like it's a UL so that means it has air suspension correct?
I looked in Lexus Drivers and it has had regular oil changes. One door actuator replaced. Several batteries replaced. Timing belt done at 90k in 2013 and new engine mounts.
Also check engine lights for EVAP system. Isn't this common but pricey to fix on LS430's?

This car is an ML, not a UL (there is no headlight washer and no rear seat controls on rear armrest).
Other than having to glean through all of the BS warnings about floor mats, this is what has been replaced on this car up until 2 years ago (in chronological order, early to later):
So this is a Briarwood. I'd really like to see this car in person. I must be getting old because I think those chrome wheels look great on the darker colors, especially in sunlight.
I'm guessing that the 2nd owner (got the car late 2008?) was a woman judging by the many comments in the service records. If so, I doubt that this car was beat on, at least up until two years ago.

I'd be asking the person selling the car what history he/she has of it and where the maintenance has been performed for the last two years.

Haha yeah seem like every visit they had a warning on the floor mats.
Yeah the frequent battery replacement is not too surprising here in Phx.
I might check it out tonight and if everything checks out I would have it checked by Lexus with PPI and I would offer 9.5k.

Just read the carfax. First owner had it less than a year. Wonder if it was a dealer demo vehicle? Looks like the grandparents bought the car in May 2014. They might have been told by the dealer (Superstition Springs Lexus? Looks like it was always purchased there) that they were the second owner. I suspect they did not have access to Carfax to check this out before purchase.

Find anything yet? You want to do just AZ? There are ways to buy a car long distance. See if the seller will drop the car off at a Lex dealer for an inspect. Get service records online (or have them email). Get him/her to do a FaceBook chat. They answer questions, you can hear the engine run, check the paint, etc.
I am a poker player. There is an old saying when playing poker, "Study Long,you Study Wrong." I think you will miss several great ones before you grab one that ends up being a lemon. You are over thinking this, Un-clench your grip on the money and get a car. I did, and I love it.
The interesting thing is I saw a comment that 5 batteries is not unusual for AZ, due to heat...but one incident was a replacement in Jan 2011, and a failure in Dec. Do OEM batteries typically only last 11 mos. in AZ? Then, it was replaced 2/12 again? Then 1/13, then 10/13. imho it sounds like the symptom is being treated, not the root cause....the above is 1/11 to 10/13 and 4 batteries.....
wonder if the 10/13 battery is still in there?

My Lexus batteries failed in less than 2 years in Phoenix, on a regular basis. The Lexus batteries had a very good warranty. I'd get the car jumped and drive it directly to my Lexus dealer. They would install a new battery, check the system, and restart the warranty for free! I got free batteries for years until I got caught away from home on a trip and had to get another battery. Don't worry about the LS having to have batteries replaced frequently. I currently use Costco batteries and just replace them every 18 months regardless of condition for free. Not a problem money wise and I know there is nothing wrong with the car.
