How many miles is too many?
I don't have a LS430 but I love them, especially the UL model. We have a GX470 and I would like to get a good condition LS430 in addition, for a good price.
Here is one that has 182,000 miles, but the price is enticing !
Would I be in for a world of problems soon down the road getting one with so many miles on it?

Let me know what you think.

Well, the mileage is not terrible. It'll need a timing belt/cam seals/water pump/tensioner in another year or so. Car is clean and the interior is clean as well, although I'm not crazy about the color. The big problem with the UL model are the struts. They will fail and are expensive to replace, unless you swap out a set of standard struts and eliminate the auto-leveling system.
I would research the VIN on the Lexus Owners site and see what maintenance has been done. There's not much that goes wrong with these cars, as they are built very well (read over-engineered). You no doubt would get many trouble free miles from it before you'd be looking at spending money on real maintenance. Some suspension parts are probably nearing the end of their useful life, so you may want to take a good look at the suspension and see how it looks/feels.At least it comes with a bow tie! (look at the photo of the rear arm rest storage compartment)

I think when you get close to 200k miles, you start having headaches. Like rebuilding the suspension if hasn't been done yet. But it's also how it was driven and maintained.
Some people also are "picky" about everything being perfect on a car. If that's your personality, for a $4,000 flagship with close to 200k miles, it's going to be a frustrating experience. If you can just drive it and accept some flaws, it's much easier.
I just wouldn't expect it to be like a new Toyota Camry. You just need to budget a few thousand extra for repairs. Right off the bat I see a timing belt/water pump job.

These cars can last forever......with less maintenance than most cars....but still require plenty of maintenance if you want them to drive as they should.
My daughter still drives my 1997 LS400 with 212,000 and it shows no signs of dying. That said, after doing a ton of maintenance at 200,000 miles, I've decided that I will never again own a car with 200,000 miles or 20 years old. There are just too many rubber parts that get hard/crack/leak.
Our 2005 LS430 has 110,000 miles and is pristine. I just did the 100,000 mile service so I'm confident it will easily go another 100,000 miles, but we won't be owning it past 2025/180,000 miles.

100,000+ miles
Mileage on our cars can be equally as important as service records. In essence 20,000 miles on an LS430 might be worse than 120,000 miles on the same car if the low mileage car was not serviced or driven. Bottom line is this. Our engines and transmission are usually good for well over 300,000 miles without much issues with proper fluid and oil changes. However, everything else can and will be vulnerable for repairs making ownership fairly expensive as our cars age further and they will.

Love this pic all day long! I had every intention for my Maxima to hit mid 300's, but corrosion and emissions have not been her friend. On the Maxima thread everyone laughed when someone posted 479k with the mechanical odometer (used 95-97).....
I just did a 600 mile business trip (sigh and I have to do this again this week) and when I cherry-pick only the highway cruising at about 72 mph, 28.8 mpg.... (I'm now headed for 92k)
edit: p.s. interestingly my temp is exactly at the same spot as yours....

Pole Position
I agree with Johnhav430. This is amazing. If I drive my current cars to 373K miles, my silver 04 will take me to 2033 and then my gold one will take me from 2033 to 2056. At that point, I'll be 86.
