Default Lexus LS430 2001 (japanese imported) lock/unlock issues.

Hello, im new to this site. I would like to benefit from your experiences with your cars.
im living in Dubai and i just bought an LS430 the ultra package without navigation system with smart key option (2001 model) car was imported from Japan.
Locking and unlocking of doors works just fine, light flashes but without beeping sound. I didnt know how to activate the beep sound for lock/unlock process. Central door locks are working fine.
the beeper is working fine, i can tell because when i leave the car when ignition is on, the beep sound gives the three beep alert.

when i also open the trunk from the smart key or the button inside the car, the beeper doesnt make any sound.

the beeper is turned to ON with full high sound, and i know its next to my right knee when sitting in the driver seat.
Im sorry i couldnt explain this in other way. Excuse my english as its not my first or second language.

thank you & expecting your help guys.

You think going to Lexus dealer is the best solution?

If I recall, the tone can be set on or off through the Toyota Tech Stream software. If you don't have access to the software, the Lexus Dealership could change that setting for you.

Do you have the owner's manual? These answers are usually there. I have the smart key on mine, and the manual gave all the instructions on how to change beeps settings, as well as how many doors to open when using the feature.

If you do have the manual, I suggest you check it out.

You will need to visit the dealer to enable the beep. You need the toyota software tool to access the car's settings.

Sorry for being naïve, but when you say "imported from Japan" does that mean it is right hand drive? In Dubai, is that a right (American like) or left side (British like) driving direction? A long time ago a fellow I worked with was from England and he had a RH drive convertible sports car and it was unnerving sitting next to him (he driving and me sitting to his left) on a US freeway.....

Hi, sorry for not being clear in my post. The car is imported from Japan (Left Hand Drive). So its just like the ones driven in the USA. And that what is accepted in dubai only.
Thanks.

Got it...
I think we are having a terminology/language challenge. While all LS models are "made in Japan" not sure if a used, LH drive did any significant miles in that country (unless it started out in Dubai and you bought it used from a local source). It would be well worth it to see if you can look up the history of the car with Lexus to see where the car spent time and any service history. The dealer for sure can do that for you and will likely recommend a host of services on top of changing the audio settings as you requested. Even for a fairly old car, Lexus has a high standard for maintenance and support of their cars. Welcome to the 430 family....

(Pictures are greatly appreciated.... Always like to see our members cars.... ).
