Default Wife brought me home a nice present

So the wife who I love dearly has been driving my car all week so I could R&R rotors and brakes all around on her GS. I finally finished up the GS earlier today and changed the oil on the 400. She comes in the door from work and immediately says " Your going to be mad " and explains that she had to go to a local H.S. today and someone broke the mirror in the parking lot. I'm going to look around on Ebay and the junk yard for the a mirror but my hopes are not high because of the color and if I have to get one painted I'm worried about it matching up since it is a pearl.

Just thinking, I'd check and see if the high school has security cameras for the parking lot.

I'm not too upset with her just a lil peeved. I've had the car for about 6 weeks and only driven it twice. There's a 05 the same color as mine in the JY a couple of miles from me that I'll check out tomorrow.

I do, but I don't, get people. I think, we are already beyond the point at which every car should have a hard wired cam front and rear. For me, it's based on my commute route. Yesterday, a car cut across 3 lanes to get to its exit, across my path. If I had a BlackVue, there's only one story as to what happened. In this case, I'm not sure if the cam can get the breakage or not, due to the angle. It may catch the actor walking away, or the vehicle.

Anyway, I'm missing the driver door handle cap that goes over the keyhole, and also the rear right. I'm on the fence about replacing. For one, they cost around $27 and $24 discount, without shipping. Secondly, I'm not even sure if they are in production.

If your car is moonlight, you have to be very careful about ensuring your color code is 072, the white can go by other names in the parts catalog.

Using the logic behind identifying my door caps, this might be what you need, good luck!

My car is Crystal White Pearl 062. I lucked up and the car in the JY was the same, paid $187 out the door. Now let's hope that the actuator works and this accident kills a couple of birds with one stone. I was going to replace the actuators in both mirrors anyway so if the one I just bought works I can remove the up/down motor from the old one and put it in the drivers actuator. Then I would have ALL functions working for both mirrors. I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason. We don't know why but If we pay close enough attention it will come to us whether good or bad.

What a damn shame. Stuff happens for sure but it sounds like someone got careless and now you have to deal with it. Do you leave the mirror switch in the fold position when turning off the ignition? In the 18 years combined of owning these cars I have always allowed the mirrors to fold up against the body to specifically prevent this sort of thing from happening especially with today's tight parking spaces and drivers that don't give a crap.

Would be cool if the glass in the JY version is better than the original, because that costs almost $400 list already...mine has the gel looking a bit funny up close...

The glass is pretty good on the JY one but so are the ones that are already on the car. If I just needed the glass there are plenty of mirrors on Ebay and http://www.car-part.com/index.htm that you can buy for half the price and just use the mirror.

I might have spoken too soon about the glass. I'm looking at it up close and it has some purplish discoloration in the middle of the mirror. It's by no means a showstopper but it's there. I sometimes get this on my 400 but it comes and goes. Kind of weird.

Around Christmas, my wife mentioned it to me, but it was raining so I didn't pay much attention...one day I noticed it myself, it's for the dimming side mirrors...the pass side has a circle that doesn't respond, because of the gel....now I always notice...go figure...
