Perhaps RKW77080 can chime in with one of his incredible diagrams or maintenance manual PDF's. He always seems to have the right diagram to assist with a problem.
Off the top of my head, start researching fuses and relays that control that system...

Been thinking about this, I don't think mine works right (works as far as locking and unlocking, but I doubt Toyota designed it this way), but I don't obviously have another LS430 to compare it to. My 4 actuators make a physical clicking sound each and every time the lock button on the fob is pressed, even when all 4 doors are already locked, or the button on the door. I checked all 3 other cars, including a 1998 Nissan, and once the doors are locked, there is no more clicking physically, no matter how many times you press lock again. That puts unnecessary wear/tear on the actuators...

The LS430 has a huge selection of Customize Parameters. Please take a look...

What happen if you walk away from the car after the auto-unlock, does the car auto-lock after a few seconds?
What happen if you get out of your car and lock the door behind you, but remain nearby, does the door auto-unlock after a few seconds?

Mine doesn't lock or unlock when I put my hand in the handle or press the button on the handles. Kind of sad. Am to be honest got the car late last night and went to buy groceries out of all the things and she said omg this car is so smooth and the seats are so comfortable. I said wait till I tell you your seats are heated and ventilated lol. Not bad for $11k

I don't know what kind of sensor is in the door handles. It would be worth cleaning the inside of the door handles real well, and see if that fixes it.

Not sure about your second question, as I haven't tried it, RK...
My 2001 does the same thing (no smart key). If I unlock the doors, but do not open them, they will re-lock after a few seconds.

I'd be curious to know why, when a driver door actuator is out of service, would all handles be disabled (this kept me in suspense--would my system work once the dealer fixed the actuator)....the logic seems flawed, so maybe it's not by design, it's resultant of the failure...
One thing I think we can see from the documentation is that it's overly complicated for its time. Today, users can interface with the car and make these decisions.
Honestly, I like the wipe 3X, then wipe one more time, and the wipers going into intermittent from low, when stopped, I think those make sense...

My 2005 has the smart key and it only unlocks AS you are touching the door handle. The interior lamps and puddle lamps illuminate as you approach the car, but the door only unlocks when you put your hand on the handle. If you manually unlock the car from a short distance away using the fob, the doors will re-lock if not opened within 30 or so seconds.

Daspyda says his car automatically unlock the door when he approaches without touching the handle. This auto-unlock feature seems a bit risky (accidentally unlocking the car), unless it knows to re-lock after a few second if the door is not open.
