Passenger mirror not folding in completely

Just recently, my passenger side mirror does not retract completely when I use the retract button. It will fold out completely when I manual press the open button for the mirrors. Does anyone know if this an adjustment or a major repair? When I pull on the passenger side mirror when in this state it feels lose with some play. I am presently no longer retracting my mirrors for fear of a total failure. Does anyone out there have any clues? Thanks all.

Is there an adjustment or an expensive repair? Anyone with failed folding mirrors?

It does for me the same for years. Ocassionaly I spray it at the folding hinge with silicon and then works for 2-3 months.

That should cover it...

Both of my mirrors basically need replacement, and yet I never really used the retract feature.

This is a problem with Lexus mirrors beyond just the LS models. Just not a robust design, several different things can crop up with them.

I need to try "surgery" on them because replacements are not cheap.

My driver's side (which for me is the right side) mirror does this from time to time. I don't normally use the retract function though, unless I want to look semi-fly when I roll up somewhere. Passengers side mirror cover has a dirty great hole in it though....
