Default Rear Sport Suspension OEM Upgrade Parts Ordered

After finding a puddle of oil under the rear shock, I decided it was time for an upgrade. Was considering lowering springs, new shocks all around, bushings etc but after getting under the car and checking around most parts looked like they have plenty of life left in the front end even at 95k miles and only the rear was making noise and leaking oil. so decided to leave the front end alone since seems tight with zero noise.

I called Lexus of South Atlanta and spoke with the parts department. Ordered new sport shocks, rear sport swaybar, sport swaybar bushings, new bolts and nuts. part numbers listed below. will report back when they arrive and I find a local shop to install. don't know if I feel comfortable doing the shocks on my back in the driveway. air tools and a lift seem to be the way to go.

Making a note that this is for 2005 to 2006. 2001 to 2004 had different part numbers for rear sport shocks. there was a big price jump between the years but I gave my VIN and verified what I ordered would be correct. will report back if the shocks come with any extras compared to the earlier ones that were only 65.00 compared to 200.00 for 05-06 model years.

Parts have shipped from the Lexus dealer. Should be here any day now.

Still need to order rear sway bar endlinks trying to decide between oem or the moog problem solver units. if anyone has replaced theirs and has any input please let me know.

I was thinking of trying the ROCAR ones when I replace my rear sway bar.

http://www.rocar-usa.com/category.ph...Year=2001-2006

Has anyone used them? They are way cheaper than the others, so I have no idea how they may compare.

Interested to hear about the $60 rear shocks - I am planning on changing out all of my shocks, and was probably leaning toward the OEM sports, considering the whole set would only be $360+shipping.

The Rocar I saw listed on ebay and were cheap. I think they are just Chinese made parts. I wound up going with the Energy Suspension 9.8169 polyurethane links from Summit Racing. They look high quality and polyurethane should hold up way better over time than standard rubber. I will report back once they are installed.

As far as the shocks go the 2005 2006 rear shocks were 200.00 each for the sport and Lexus South Atlanta said they could not verify fitment for the cheaper 65.00 ones. I should be receiving these today to see if they come with extra parts/mounts for the higher price tag.

I have an '04 so they should work for me. If so, they really are the best value for the whole set. Interested to hear how they look and work for you since I'm preparing to order parts in the next couple weeks.

Was very excited when the Fed Ex guy arrived at the door. Opened the box only to find that they shipped me all the wrong parts. The lexus dealer literally ignored all the sport part numbers i gave them and sent me all stock parts. Not a happy camper by any means so I have to ship everything back and they said they will overnite me the correct parts. The saga continues.

Ready to trade this thing in for a CTS-V

To save anyone else the hassle. Never order anything from Lexus of South Atlanta. Ive spent all day on the phone listening to excuses and the return process is a nightmare, Literally every part they sent me was incorrect.

That's the pits. It takes a lot of time to get the info together and order the parts.

I have an 04 Sports. Rides slightly harder but much more drivable. Hopefully your rear sports shocks/sway bar help makes your car handle a little better w/o comprising comfort. I've read in here that just adding a rear sway does help a Base. Good luck.

Yeah it literally took hours of crawling through the forums, searching parts diagrams and calling to verify everything was correct for each bushing, bolt, shock etc. When I opened the box and saw everything was wrong I was beyond pissed. Then they acted like it was my fault for wanting to upgrade to the Sport parts and told me they sent the right ones for my car.

I got the parts next day shipped. Shop had to put me off til Monday because of the delay. Will post back with how the car feels after the install.

Was going to do front and rear but front feels tight and then the afs sensor took a dump and set me back another 370.00 so I'm putting the front end on hold until it actually needs to be done.

Sucks to hear you got the wrong parts. Way to ruin all the wait and excitement.. lol.

I've ordered a lot of stuff from Lexus South Atlanta before, but I did all my transactions through their online website. It was simple and worked great every time I ordered.
Give that a shot if you haven't, and congrats on the parts, lol. It'll feel good when you get the right parts

This was through the online website. I picked all the part numbers and ordered exactly what I needed. My order receipt was correct but what actually showed up was all stock non sport.

Update!!

The correct parts arrived and finally got to get back to the shop for installation.

New rear sway bar, bushings, sport shocks went on. Old shocks were completely wore out and leaking oil at 95k miles.

Car feels much tighter, rides smooth, no noise so I'm pleased with the final outcome.

Was surprised when the shop told me the factory rear strut mounts still looked new so I'm glad I did not order any after markets to replace them.

As far as labor cost I removed the rear seat myself to save some labor charge. Took them 2 hours and cost 180.00.
