Default Aftermarket headunit in 2005 LS430 with factory navigation

Love this car. But that factory navigation is really showing its age. After a pretty careful read of existing threads, it seems like a transplant can be done using appropriate adapter kits, but what's not clear to me is this:

Does that mean I'd have two display screens on my console?

I would like to keep geometry of the interior as close to stock as I can. So is there no practical way to remove the antediluvian-looking factory screen in place now with something a bit more up-to-date?

Thanks, in advance, to anyone who can offer this audio newbie some clarifying advice...

I am by no means an authority in this space but am in a similar position with an '01 and the research done so far is not promising.

While you can acquire a replacement audio system with a modern touch screen that has an integrated NAV system (like the newer Pioneer's), salvaging the existing screen for the HVAC seems not to be that viable and you will end up with two screens.

Use the search function; you will find some involved upgrades that some members have accomplished but in reading those the folks did some major research on wiring and harnesses along with some clever improvising to get their stunning results....

Let us know what you discover and decide what to do.....

Great, the Beatsonic looks promising. I also own a 2005 Lexus LS430 and am very interested in upgrading the factory radio. I purchased a GROM android connector and the quality is pretty poor. I have sent Crutchfield an email asking for advice. The Beatsonic looks promising.

You can add analog aux to factory audio system for couple of dollars. If you connect device with good quality DAC to this aux you get a pretty good audio system.

I have connected mirabox, so I can play all media files and remote play music and video from my android phone.

Hi Owczar, can you give more details or a link how to add analogue Aux. I am looking at getting a Mirabox too.

You must use for relays to switch analog output from radio (to amplifier). What LS do you have 00-03 or 03-06?

I have disconnected wires on the trunk, on amplifier plugs. More info here:

So you should put relays on those wires:

W- white
B- black
G- green
R- red

You can find those wires on amplifier side and radio side. This is tuner analog output line.
