I've read hundreds of posts regarding trans drain and fills, intervals, etc. I also have read that there have are very high mile cars that have never had the fluid touched. Lets hear from the 200,000 + mile owners and what they have done regarding the transmission service.

I bought my 2002 with about 125,000 on it. It had a folder full of service records from a Lexus dealership but I didn't see any trans service done so I did all fluids when I got it but I haven't done the trans drain and fill since. I guess I should do it again. The trans shifts great. There's just over 220,000 on it now. I'm hoping to get 300,000 + out of it.

05 LS430 w/270k miles in Georgia
Mechanic does timing belt work every 100k miles. At that time I request: new trans filter, drain fluid, drop and scour trans pan, add new fluid.
No trans issues. Ever.

It would be odd for Toyota to take the position of lifetime, when they have technical documents on how to drain/fill the fluid in a '04+, and a chart indicating how much of the old fluid would be present in subsequent procedures...everyone I have talked to, has stated there is no such thing as lifetime anything. However, the indie for Lexus did tell me if your mileage were higher, we wouldn't touch it, at that point, leave it alone and see what happens (stated that at 8x,xxx, when I asked if my tranny could get ruined by the drain and fill, he said, "NOT A CHANCE.")....
Also, with BMW, same thing, no such thing as lifetime coolant (BMW calls it lifelong).
Unfortunately, seems my wife and I have softened our positions on never driving an automatic and always driving a stick. She's had an auto since 2011 in her SUV, and says, "I'm a soccer mom now, why would I want a stick?" I said oh no, they got you.....now my DD is the LS430 and I too seem to have become used to an auto. I feel sticks just don't break. The Nissan is 19 y.o. and has the original clutch at 245k....I would expect the same from the BMW. One of the few cars that can still have a manual is the Audi A4--but it costs the same as a dual clutch, that is highway robbery! Why do clutch drivers have to subsidize the $6k trannies of those who don't get a clutch...

Had our 200K plus '01 tranny completely drained, flushed, new filter, and refilled (16 qts) late last year. Only had it done due to the color of the fluid indicating wear as there were no shifting issues. After the service the car performed as well as before..... (likely better but hard to tell....)
