Default swapping wood trims?

Hey guys. I've always liked the 01-03 UL ash wood trim and I want to swap it into my new 04-06 UL. Has any of you ever done it? Of course, I'd be sourcing it from a salvaged vehicle but it looks so much better. My UL is black interior and I think with ash wood trim, it would look awesome. Thoughts?

hmm might be cool looking indeed. Can you see somehow if Lexus offered this combo anywhere in the world? if not, i'd tread carefully...might be a good reason why they didn't

You'll be taking apart a lot of parts. Each wooden palate is held in by glue and 2 screws I believe, but not quite sure.

Should be a nice way to have your car looking customized the way you like it..
Keep this thread updated if you decide to go with it.

I believe the ash wood trim came in tan colored leathers? seems like the steering wheel will be problematic since its tan and not black leather.

The ash wood came only on the ecru (almost white) UL trim model. 01-03. Luckily its pretty common:

This is going to be a BIG job. Another issue you will find is the console configuration of the 01-03 and 04-06 is slightly different. The shifter module is different, its smaller in the 04-06 so you will have that to overcome.

01-03:

04-06 (as you can see the shifter module is smaller compared to the ashtray door):

The swap is not hard to do. Dash pieces are held on by clips and door panel pieces have screws. If you can source the Ash colored pieces you can get it changed out in an afternoon. You can probably splice together the shifter bezels from the 01-03 and 04-06 in order to overcome the discrepancy in size.

This would be gorgeous in the black interior. You would probably be the first to do it. Hope you decide to take the plunge.
