Default P0440

Hi, all. I received a CEL that indicated a P0440 code the other day (2002 LS 430). The first thing that I checked was the gas cap and found a crack in the O-ring. I replaced the cap with a Stant brand cap. I didn’t have the code cleared because I thought that it would go away after a while, but it hasn’t. A poor assumption on my part? I am still getting the CEL. Rather then heading to the repair shop, I wanted to as you all if Stant is still a reliable brand or do I actually need a genuine Lexus cap? Thanks.

You can erase the code via scanner or disconnect the battery for 5 minutes. Then see if code reappears. The gas cap brand shouldn't matter. As long as it has a good seal so there is no leak.
