Help. I know how to get the panel off to troubleshoot, but how do I get the door open to begin with?

I don't have a smart key, but I press the interior unlock mechanism and can hear it in the door. Just not action to unlock and now way to get the door open now.

One body shop said they would try to get in by removing the back door and then unbolting the exterior door handle. Does anyone know whether a slim jim would work? Yikes, that makes me cringe just thinking about it.
