I recently bought one. Overall, I'm happy with the upgrade. But once the diffuser is installed, it doesn't make all the LEDs uniform (if that makes sense). If I look straight from the back, a few of the bottom LEDs are dimmer (due to the patterns on the diffuser). Does anyone else have this issue? My LS430 is an 06.

So i just came across this mod today. My only question is, does it error out the self-check and require in line resistor? Because i have tried single-bulb LED solutions for the 3rd brake light and it errors out with a Red Triangle icon thinking that its burned out.

If this doesn't fail the self-check i may have to look into getting one myself.

I was wondering the same thing, but saw no mention in the thread of LED lamp problems like we see with the tail lamps, so perhaps it was built with the resistor in place..

I'm the OP. No in-line resistor needed. No circuit failure warning on dash. Plug 'n play install.

I don't have this issue on my '06. It looks OE on mine.

Tom57, did you put the LED light loosely in the casing and use the diffuser to hold it in place? That's how mine is installed.

It's been a couple years, but I believe I placed the diffuser in front of the LED panel. I remember the perimeter of the light panel just fit inside the light housing. I adjusted the panel to get it perfectly horizontal in the light assembly. I may have used a small strip of tape to hold it in place.

Looks like this mod works best with 04-06 possibly. I just got mine in the mail today and installed it into my 2003 LS 430. Starts up without a warning but chimes a Tailamp Failure and red-triangle as soon as i hit the brakes. My search continues...

Have you tried to contact the seller? Since he built them, he may have an idea of why you're getting the tail lamp failure.

I'll contact them to see if they have any ideas. But i don't see much recourse. Plain and simple the circuit isn't seeing the correct voltage or something and throwing a failure warning.

You would probably have to wire in a resistor to make it work man.
