Post 2002 LS430 Coolant Flush

Hi Forums,

I am new to this forum, and I have a couple questions. I've been wanting to do a coolant flush on my family's 2002 LS430. Before I do so, I thought I would ask the forums to see where the drain plug/petcock on the radiator or the block. If someone can also post a picture that would be extremely helpful.

P.S. Do I need to keep a perfect 50/50 ratio for the Toyota red coolant/Distilled water?

Thanks,
Oscar

Attached directions say "open the heater water valve". Where is this located? May be a dumb question but why don't directions say to close the heater water valve? Thanks.

Very good question. Portion of the engine coolant is used to warm the cabin during cold weather. This is done by regulating the coolant flow through the "heater water valve" to the hot engine. I posted something on this topic previously - please take a look at Post #3 of the below for details...

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...goes-cold.html

When your heater is off (temperature setting to "low"), the heater water valve is closed and traps some coolant in the heater. In order to completely flush out all your old coolant, you should make sure the heater water valve is fully open (turn on your heater until the heater water valve is fully open, then turn off the engine and confirm that the valve remains open). Then do your flush...

Good catch!
