2006 LS430 - So Far, So Good
 

Almost ready to pass the 100,000 mile mark and still liking this car for it's quiet comfort, capacity and rock-solid demeanor. Almost hate to have the shop gremlins replace the timing belt, tensioner, water-pump and fluids in fear that they might mess-up something but it's time to get it done.

I purchased this certified car in 2011 and have added about 40,000 on the odometer. Replaced the tires (to Michelin Primacies), changed the oil every 5k, the air filter once and clean and grease (Shin-etsu) the window & door seals every 6 months and that's about it for maintenance other than the occasional wash and shine. No surprises whatsoever.

Have been very pleased with the fuel economy, too, but I am a careful driver and strive to drive efficiently. My best open road driving was just over 31 mpg (70 mph) and my worst around town about 16 mpg for a 4-year average of 24.1 mpg. Considering the size and weight of the car and the peppy V8 engine, I think that's pretty darned good. Hoping for another 100k at least.

Pick up your Aisin timing belt kit and just pay for labor. It's easy enough and you save. You really do save a lot. You can get oem parts and negotiate labor. I would do the thermostat and plugs / clean throttle body at the same time. You right there and the labor is easier. Just pick up your own parts. I have found that even Lexus and Toyota dealership will be competitive on labor rates when you keep them in check. Check with local Toyota shops. Often a Lexus dealer will match the lower price. RockAuto has the oem parts for good prices.
