CD Player Stopped Working
I have a 2004 LS 430 Ultra edition.
1- My factory 6 deck CD player just stopped working. When the CD button is selected the error message " CD ERROR" is displayed. The deck has 6 CDs in it. The unload button is in-op and when pressed the amber color backlight turns on briefly and then shuts off. The Load. Button is also in- op but since the changer is full this seems normal.
2- Does this sound like a typical problem and the repair is replace the changer with a refurbished unit ? i am assuming they sell refurbished changers.
3- Is it an involved process to remove replace the changer?
Thanks for your reply.

If it is a stuck or jammed CD, check to see if you can spot a cd just inside the entrance slot of the player. You may be able to reach in and extract it with small needle nose pliers or use some double sided carpet tape on another CD to crab the stuck CD. You can also try using gravity assist by dismounting and holding it slot side down to see if the cd will be accessible for extraction. Be careful not to force anything though, if removing CD via slot doesn't work, you may need to open the unit up and extract CDs manually and inspect to see if there are any misaligned/loose/broken parts. CD players are relatively simple mechanisms. Might be a good time to install a IPOD/Iphone adapter and forget about CD player. I have a tiny 8 gig IPOD I bought used on ebay for $50 bucks in the glove that has aprox 80 CDs of music on it.

Ok got the CD Player working again. The loading door on the player was stuck in the open position and i was able to see a CD, so i pulled it out very carefully with a very small narrow needle nose pliers. Then i disconnected and reconnected the battery as suggested. Unfortunately the player still did not work. So then i began carefully pushing on the CD door and after 3 attempts the door closed and the error message cleared and the player now works again. I unloaded a total of 6 CD's including the one i pulled out and then reloaded them back, so i did not have an extra CD in the player. All this means now is that i can listen to my Led Zeppelin again! Thanks for the advice and encouragement.
