It's funny because I've had this car for about a year now. And the only 2 problems I've ever had have been after an related maintenance repair. 1st I replaced the right front tire, and immediately leaving the shop my Check engine and vsc light come on : 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 1... and yesterday I changed my rotors.... and minutes after no smart key.
my smart key does not work.
the car starts but buttons on the fob do not do anything, the red light blinks when buttons are pressed
TechStream pulls up DTC B2775
if key is not inserted in the ignition and i try to turn the **** it says "key not detected" on the dash
if the key is inserted and i push it in and hold down in the off position i get "Check S/T Lock" message on the dash with a red warning triangle above
the button under the dash is depressed and "key" light blinks red and "smart" light blinks green
fuses are checked and all seemed to be ok
I had auto locksmith try to program the remote and no success
i took it to the automotive electrician and he pulled up the B2775 code with possible culprits being "key fob", "wiring harness", "theft deterrent ECU" and "steering lock ECU"
I bought a theft deterrent ECU and had auto locksmith try to program it again and no luck
trying to look up the steering lock ECU and it's about $1200 new with none listed on ebay
i bought the car without the key
bought a brand new key/fob from the Lexus dealer and had an auto locksmith program it.
locksmith was only able to program the key to where it turns the ignition lock and starts the car, he was not able to program the smart access part of it, said he'll try it later and then ditched me... ugh...
the locksmith who tried it last 2 times is not super knowledgeable, he had to call someone and they were telling him step by step what to do
I did take it to a lexus dealer and they tried to program it with no success, and, because it's a salvaged title car they would not do anything else for me...
Thank you for the .pdfs. I not sure I can do anything here as these instructions call for a hand held tester, which I do not have. Maybe I will forward these to my electrician and see what he says.
The instructions about jumping pins on dlc3, is that for new ecu only or can I try that to re-establish the communication ID between existing computers?
Also,
i was replacing my tilt motor today, and noticed that the date on the sticker on the steering lock actuator/ECU is fairly recent, 06/03/17, is that the manufacture date?
like in this pic, just below the CF-93 letters
does that mean that it was most likely recently replaced? and maybe wasn't married correctly to the vehicle's original system?
It is actually 04/11/09/03:17.
Japanese dates are backwards so that date is the 9th November 2004 at 03hrs 17 mins.
Exactly. Canada also uses the YMD convention, but we typically use MDY, while Europe is DMY.
Part of me wishes we were brought up with metrics, the other part of me wishes the rest of the world would follow us. Metrics is more practical, however. We lucked out on language, however.
update: got my smart key system to work... i'm so proud of myself, lol
i bought a Autel MaxiDAS DS808 and tried to register a new key - no luck. tried erasing existing key codes - no luck, it would just spin and spin and spin...
only when i did the "smart code reset" i was able to program my key as new master key and now everything is working properly
it showed me that there were 4 master keys and 1 sub key programmed to the car - that was the max limit for the car so that's why it didn't take anymore new keys
only cost me $785 for the scanner...
Does anyone have the wiring list/description of the cables/connectors highlighted in the picture below? As you can see in the red circle, it's my temp bypass to get the passenger power seat to work.
The connector in green is what I believe is causing the Navigation not to work. The screen is just blank.
The connector in blue is what I believe causing the keyless not to work. When I disconnected it, the keyless started to work.
my LS had the same issue corroded connectors so i removed the box with the blue circle and my key fob works again, went to lexus and they where asking $1k for a new key receiver pass on that. Update i soaked both connectors in wd40 for 6mins than i used compressed air to make sure its dry after i did that i plugged the door receiver back to its connector and its working fine again
A special THANK YOU to mikevanle and Bsavge, without your guidence and the pictures of that connector in the trunk I would have just given up hope that my smart key would ever work again. These forums have saved me more than once and I'm on a few. Mostly Motorcycles and Scooters. Thanks again gentlemen, I owe you both a beer.
