Default Maintenance indicator

OK I am stumped.

I have a 2005 with navigation and the need some help.

My maintenance required light is on and I can't get it off

I have gone to the maintenance screen and reset all indicators and it is still on
I have all turned the overall maintenance screen to off and the indicator is still on

Does this mean I have some other problem?

Thanks for your help

Is the "Maintenance Required" light on the dash cluster? If so, you can't clear it from the Nav screen. How long have you owned the vehicle? Sounds like an oil change reminder.

yes on the dash cluster, I have tried holding the ODO/Trip button but I did not work. I guess I will play around with those buttons some more as that must be the solution. I am surprised that the maintenance section of the nan screen cannot take care of this but I guess I cannot.

On another topic I am still in shock that I cannot manual enter phone numbers into the phone book.

After you have performed the maintenance that is required (oil change), follow the exact sequence in the owner's manual to clear and re-set the "Maintenance Required" light. I believe the odometer has to be set with the trip meters not showing (verify in Owner's Manual). Then the button has to be held for like 5 seconds until beep is heard.

As for telephone numbers, I used an older phone off the dusty shelf (from that circa time period) to program the numbers, like an old Motorola Razr phone.

I went and played with the trip and the reset buttons and the indicator light went out finally, thanks.

I did try all my old phones. While I could get some to link up none of them would allow me to transfer the contacts.

I would like to know what someone was thinking ( or not) when they did not allow for manual input.

Car was initially designed in late 90's for 2001 release and Lexus barely updated over the production run. As an example the 2006 version was still sporting a fine cassette tape player - nothing says obsolete like a cassette player in the dash. Sad to say the audio and communication technology in the LS was obsolete back in 2006. Now its just laughable. As an aside, I am pretty sure the SC430 held the record for the most recent model year car still being built with a cassette player in the dash - think it was still in the 2009 SC430 model. Audio and comms in the SC is even more pathetic.
