What did you do to your LS430 today?

I got the Whale back from the elec-chickens. Not to chase down that damn annoying knock sensor fault, but to fit an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser, as mine for some stupid reason, has next to no form of security system in it. No glass break sensors, no tilt sensors, no panic mode, no immobiliser, no coded key, no siren when you open the doors while locked, nothing. All I had was central locking. My advice - leave that s*** to the professionals. LS430s have so many systems integrated with control modules and PWM controllers that trying to find a simple circuit to flash the turn signals on locking and arming is a mission in itself.

Today I started sanding the sun damaged clear coat on my trunk lid. I was dry sanding with 1200 but that is slow going. I think I’m going to switch to 800.
Prior to sanding I clayed it but it did not pass the baggie test. Then I did some sanding with 1200 but still rough. I think that is because there is still sun damage in the depressions of the orange peel. I think if I sand out the orange peel maybe it will be good enough to polish. This is the procedure of last resort prior to committing to repaint part or all of it. I still have some hope it can be restored enough to last for a few more years in presentable condition.
I also started sanding one of my headlight lenses. The lenses aren’t really yellowed, just dull looking. Damp sanded using DA with 1200, 1500, 2000 progression, which left the lens quite foggy. I then proceeded to a Meguiars thin foam cutting pad (DFC6) with meguiars D300 compound. That cleared the lens right up. It is already noticeably better than the other side. The DFC6/D300 combo works really well. I still have medium and glaze compound to go. Lens should be crystal clear after that.

I also received 3 lock actuator motors with D shaft sourced off Amazon that I plan on installing in the near future. Hopefully that will fix my inoperable/partly operable door locks. Davenport will fix them for about $300 and something apiece. That may be for a new replacement part, which probably isn’t that unreasonable. I’ll see if I can go the cheap route first.

Oh, I also ordered new front rotors and pads. Was going to go OEM but decided to save money with aftermarket.
There are a multitude of small tasks to accomplish on this new-to-me car. Once they are all done I probably won’t mess with it much.

Just did this on my wife's GM over the weekend. Fronts were original from 2011. Not knowing how hard it would be to knock the rotors off (I have seen issues on the web), I opted to use a lift that my uncle has access to.
Did you have any issue at all, removing the rears on the LS430? I will be doing it over the summer, and am assuming that the extractor bolt holes will be the way to pop the rear rotors, off the hubs....
p.s. the sensors I bought for the LS are Raybestos...$12 tops I think...

For the LS I bought the Centric rear rotors when they were only $27 on amazon. Now they are about $51, no idea why they were that cheap, but it was for a while, not just a day or two. They look to be good quality, but maybe if there is a next time I will do original Lexus OE all around (my fronts are OE from when I got the car in 2016)...I am ok with the price, just that I can't get free shipping if I get Lexus OE....

Took it to the most reputable tire/alignment shop in Northern NJ to diagnose my steering shake at over 50mph.
turns out I have a bent rr wheel and my left front tire is out of round. They’re swapping my spare on the rr and shaving my left front and re-balancing both fronts. Will update with results shortly.

Drove the car home after the work was completed.
Steering shake is 90% gone and I'm happy with that. The spare was definitely straight and they were able to shave the left front tire almost perfect.
What causes a tire to go out of round? Flat spotting?
