excuse my random rant but a nicely taken care of car must be a magnet. I have had my 05 ML for 5 years and the amount of various scratches I've received in that time in public places makes me angry. I try my hardest to park clear of the crowd but it never fails, when I come back somebody is parked on top of my car. I'm black on black running staggered 20's, if I take my car to the paint shop what could I have done short of a full re spray thanks for the help. oh no dents just surface scratches not down to metal though.

 

nowadays paint shops can do amazing work with touch ups

most of the surface scratches can be buffed out

if you have a deeper one they will fill the scratch , apply color , then clear coat, then they will buff and polish area to blend in with the rest.

I have no idea of what they charge for this

 

About 2 years ago when I was in my 87 Mercedes 420 SEL, I parked away from all easy access parking spaces that are usually at the front of any entrance to avoid what you're ranting about. Now when I came back out to my car some idiot parked their car sooo close to my drivers side door that I had to get in my car from the passenger side. I was totally pissed but it is a good thing that I have a lot of patience. There was no damage done to my car but there were so many other parking spaces available that I could tell the person had done it on purpose to be funny. If I had let those demon thoughts running through my mind at that time come to reality then, I would have fu--c-- that car up with the breaker bar that I keep in the trunk. I mean I would have flatten all 4 tires, broke the windshield and rear shield, scratched, dented and punched some holes in it in various places too! I just thank GOD that I possess self-control because that person(s) would have been crying when they returned to their car. Take care and be careful out there in the world.

 

I dunno how is it there but here in the middle east the car worth much more when its on its orignal paint with no spray or dents

I have a black 430 and park in the last spots everywhere I go and still come out to people right next to me in there beat up junk. If the car is so close that I know they touched my door I make sure to leave them one less side view mirror on that side.

 

What is it? Do these idiots just ride around looking for people's cars to mess with? Must be a sad situation if that's how they live their daily lives.

 

I see I'm not alone with this magnetic problem. I guess I'll keep hiking in from the farthest spot and cross my fingers lol

 

I know how you feel, mine is black too. Always some clown puts a carriage or parking next to me and I park way out!!! Ugggh.

 

The worst thing could happen tonight. I was at walmart tonight and parked far away under a pole with only one side exposed to a possible car parking next to me. I go in for only 10 minutes to run and grab some groceries. I come out and lo and behold. I have two door dings on my driver door and a 2 inch key mark on the rear driver door with three more door dings. Why did this have to happen to me? I was so mad. There was no other car parked next to me when I came out. I would have done some bad things if I saw who did it. Ridiculous. People just love to mess with other's cars.

Well 10-15 minutes. Im not trying to be racist but I live in new orleans and people here are haters and ignorant. The majority of the people that come to walmart at night are african american just saying. One thing im never going to do is go to walmart at night again. Hopefully I can try to polish out the key mark and touch up the dings.

 

Personally, I pretty much despise every time I have to go to wally world. Sometimes I wonder if you are not better off parking in the crowd. Maybe going solo in the lot makes your car into a target.
