Default VSC Light and Warning light is on, but car appears to run fine.

Hey guys, so yesterday i started having a weird issue with my LS. I had to leave it outside overnight after a 7 hour drive home from a ski trip. It dipped down to -37 degrees celsius over night, and when i went to go to work in the morning the emergency brake was actually frozen so my car wasn't going anywhere. I always put it in neutral than push the e brake in, then put it in park, just to be easier on the transmission. but when i went to go out and warm up my car, ( started, believe it or not, god i love our cars, still on the factory battery as well) and i noticed the red triangle with the explanation mark in it was on, and VSC was turned off. The car still runs very good, i haven't noticed a change in anything, its just the warning light and it won't go away.

Any suggestions at all guys? I've searched the forum but have not had much luck.

Thanks,

Levi.

Connections between battery cells can separate and reconnect causing the VSC to turn itself off as a battery nears its end. These metal connections between cells can contract in extreme cold but rejoin enough to start and run the engine ... at least for a while.

Just like Kansas said. Battery can cause this error. Considering the other symptoms you describe, the ice, snow, temperature, it may an abs sensor. But again, just a guess. Unfortunately, the standard code reader won't read abs codes. To identify the problem you do need the abs code. Test that battery first and do a soft reset first.

You also don't need to load up the parking break too much. The transmission brake is very heavy duty in the LS430. I park on a hill often and use both but it seems to me the parking brake does not like the whole weight of the 430 alone. At least in my car, putting it in park and then applying the parking brake balances it between the two and she does not offer any problems shifting back into drive.

thanks for the recommendation, ill certainly consider that. Also what is a soft reset? just disconnecting the negative battery cable for like 15 minutes?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yes, but all it needs is 30 seconds.

If I accidentally leave my parking brake on I get the error that the OP got.. then I disengage the brake.. but his was stuck so that was probably the issue.
