The light in my transmission console is out. Is replacing it a DIY for someone fairly good at mechanics. ?I'm talking about the light that shows what gear you are in on the console not the dash light. The car is a 2002 ls430. All replies greatly appreciated but a step by step would be great.

search ashtray replacement in the forum - there are old posts with pics for taking the flat wooden console around shift assembly out - its easy once you see the pics - 10 minute job.
