Default What has happened to my driver side window?

I need to roll down my driver side window to place my parking card against the card reader at the entrance of my office block to gain access/leave the carpark. Recently, when I press the window button down, the window seems to be jammed and lowered at roughly half the speed of other windows. Sometimes, I have to help to press it down. Going up , however, is not a problem and at the same speed of other windows..I have tried to ID the problem without starting the car and after rolling up and down the window for over 10 times, the window motor came to a halt. However, when I started the car, the motor worked again. My battery was only replaced 9 months ago and has since been working well. So, it should not be a battery issue. Otherwise, the other 3 windows should behave the same. Now, only the driver side window has such a problem. Nothing is blocking its pathway too. Anyone can help to solve this problem? Many thanks.

you have to dive inside the door i guess... motor may be at fault, or just some corrosion on the plug.

Thanks to the 2 replies above. I have thought about the motor too. One thing however puzzled me. If the motor is going out, why is there no problem in rolling up the window which requires even more force? With the help of gravity and its own weight, the glass should be able to roll down easier and NOT slower. Any other guesses?

That's a really good question. Usually when the motor is going out the window rolls up slower than the others. I'm not sure what else it could be to be honest.

My window was doing that but it was because of the tint grabbing the rubber seal... it would grab going down and halt but go up like a champ

The control module (MPX unit) inside the door may need to be replaced, this happened to my GS and replacing the module fixed the issue.

Many thanks for the view. If it is a MPX unit malfunction, will there be a warning at the dash board?

There is no warning light on the dash for the MPX unit or window malfunction. The window will start acting weird, button would start being unresponsive making you to think that there is something is wrong with the button. I am not sure if the LS has individual MPX units in each doors like the GS does.

Do anyone here knows the parts no. of the MPX unit for the driving side of 04 LS430 and where I can get a good deal? My car is right hand drive and so the driver side is on the right. I have checked the ebay and googled but cannot get any info. I don't want to buy the wrong parts since even for 03 model LS, a used MPX unit sells for $200 in ebay. Many thanks.

My next service is 8 months away. Will matter get worse if I leave the window like this until then or should I have it repaired right away? I have to roll down my window at least 4 times a day. Any advice?
