Let me qualify that statement. The Toyota will generally have less trouble with given care where the VW would be with 60K less miles. Breaking the 100K mile mark what I've seen in my small sampling of more contemporary VW goes south. Be that mechanical or especially electrical. Between VW and the LS430 both at 185K with regular performed maintenance, which car would be the least likely to have annoyances to deal with? Both will have stray samples where they are super long term though the Toyota will tend to have better longevity odds.

You talk about the Phaeton, I saw one for the first at my 10k service. Looked stunning, the service guy just shook his head when I mentioned it. They had a line leak or something on the ac compressor or starter and they had to drop the motor to replace a real routine part 2700 bucks. I am sure he could have gone on all day. I do think VW and Audi of have improved like all the companys, Audi's are real popular but me never own a Geramn car w/o a manufacturer warrantee. But last night I got home hit the twistys on my lil 20 mile loop, out in farm country and this thing hauls for an SUV.

In closing Treg is gone for a cheap lease on a highlander SE for towing so wife can go back to school. For any doughters, and that is fine, it was the sweetest ride I will ever own prolly own. I had the one warrantee item and the redesign is proving to be a reliable ride. Super fast with 406 lbs of torque, super handling and with the 8 speed and low end torque with the diesel I had ear to ear grins every second I was in it. To all the VW haters, that is fine also, this one is a keeper. I bought it used and the used market is where to buy them as with he competition from Benz BMW Porsche the Treg with the VW badge losses its identity, but oh what a vehicle. Just paying tribute where tribute is due.

I am still sick I had to sell it so now my Euro Sport 04 I will have to settle for, could be worse. Ju
