Hello all, My father's lexus ls430 ul had its first major problem. He went on the highway and the cruise function does not work. The red triangle will also light up on the dashboard. My father brought it to the stealership to get diagnosed and they said it is the module located under the driver seat. Is there any way to fix this? Or possibly disable the radar cruise control to only use normal cruise? Thank you

Our 2004 has the same issue and I'm not willing to spend over a grand to fix it.

To disable the radar cruise and just use the regular cruise you must push the cruise lever forward for a few seconds.... The radar cruise light will go out.

Here's the key though:

1. You must remember to do this before you are traveling over 30 mph. It won't let you disengage the radar cruise if you are going over 30 mph.

2. You must do this before trying to engage the radar cruise as once the triangle appears, the cruise disengages and the only way to clear the error message is to turn off the engine and start over.

3. Once you have disengaged the radar cruise are using the regular cruise, you can't turn off the cruise and then turn it back on or the radar cruise error pops up. You must disengage the cruise by tapping on the brake and then resuming or resetting. My habit of disengaging the cruise by turning it off and then turning it back on screws me.

Kinda sucks!!!!!

My 430UL has a lot of expensive gremlins that need to be killed..... radar cruise...mirrors....trunk latch....air suspension..... yikes.

The Pre-collision System (PCS) is a remarkable safety feature. My wife's new car has PCS but my old LS does not. My next car definitely will have PCS or a similar system if I buy another brand. I wouldn't let a measily $1K or $2K stand in the way of fixing it. Why are you buying these cars if you aren't going to maintain and fix them while you own them?

I drove my last Mercedes from new to 210K and everything on it worked when I sold it. I drove my first Lexus LS from new to 183.5K and everything on it worked when I sold it. I've driven my current LS from 38K to 159K and it's like new and everything works perfectly. The key is to fix problems when they happen and to not let them pile up.

I agree 100%. It makes no sense to have a car like this and not be able to enjoy it. These cars are not just basic transportation and to think of them as such is a shame.
