i just paid 34$ for an air filter for my new(er) toyota crown here in japan, only to see on the side of the box that the same one from my old LS430 would also work (same air filter). i think i may start ordering them from the states from now on.
just thought i would share how damn expensive car parts are out here. i forget how much now but my in cabin air filter was super overpriced as well for the crown.
i know about yahoo.jp auctions but shipping is even more ridiculous in japan. i have an APO box so shipping to it (my mailbox here) is the same as shipping to a CA address so its cheaper to order car parts (even those made in Japan) from the states and have them mailed to me here. kinda funny to me when i think about it.
cheaper for someone living in japan to order parts made in japan and shipped to the states from the states and have them mailed back to japan... anyone else see an issue with this¿

Yup. We did that with family over there, crazy. The goodies discounted here aren't over there. So long as they didn't mind the export USA spec. It was less even after we shipped it back. Like Panasonic phones though made in Thailand, we can buy a 4 handset box for about $100 on sale. ¥20000 at the Yamada Denki. The cheap 550 Levis made in some unknown country are $45 here. Over there the similar import pants were ¥13500 if not more. (I won't go into the vintage denim thing which is way crazy.)
I just wished I could find a small item shipper there that could do stateside shipments as affordable as TA-Q-BIN and OCS from the states.
