Default HELP! Over $1300 to fix door lock on 04 LS430

I am in need of some serious help!

My front passenger door lock stopped locking on my 2004 LS430. I live in Australia, so I have the Right Hand Drive UL model with self closing doors.

I took it to Lexus who inspected it and they say I need a whole new LHS lock assembly and the part alone is over $1032!! With fitting it will be over $1300

They said I need part number 69040-50220 which is for a series of parts that make up the LHS door lock assembly.

$1300 is just crazy for a lock that stopped working! My car is in immaculate condition with only 90,000kms. I have contacted some dealers overseas in the USA but they cant really help because their part numbers are different and they have LHS drive cars (i think their equivalent part number is 69040-50200).

My only hope is that I'm awaiting a reply from Carson Toyota/Lexus as I've heard they may have access to international parts straight from Japan.

I hope they can help, otherwise I'm forced to pay $1300 for one lock as their are no other dealers in my State.

Is it a part you can get from a boneyard, seems very rare so their has to be some around.

Sounds like a tight spot, a quick search brought this up:

http://www.amayama.com/search/?q=69040-50220-

It's a new replacement sourced from Japan, cost appears to be $687.18 AUD plus shipping.

I have no idea as to who these people are, so proceed with caution if at all.

Thanks for the website link. I've never heard about that site before. It sounds promising but I couldn't find much about it on the net or on many forums so I don't think I'm confident giving them $687 yet!
