Default Center consule will not open 2003

I read sigers98 post on 2/9/08. But I wonder if it is necessary to take the center console out to get it open? The opening handle just seems not to release the latch. I was hoping I could trick it open and find a way to see if the linkage to the latch itself could be repaired or jury rigged. Help appreciated - new Lexus LS430 owner.

Not unless you have something strong enough thin enough and flexible enough to try and slip in it.

have you tried to push on the back side of the lid toward the front of the car and lift the handle?

As jimbosr1 said push from the rear as you are lifting the handle. Once open look at the center console lid fix thread. The screws that hold the lid to the hinges are loose or have fallen out. Just finished fixing mine literally 10 minutes ago, for the second time. Do not use locktite! I used some small star lock washers the second time.

a little rubber cement on the screws before re-installing them will hold them from vibrations. Rubber cement will not harm the plastic.

Default pushing from the back did it!

Thanks though I feel rather stupid right now.

I removed the console, which was easy, and sure enough the two screws were missing. I replaced them which was a little difficult because my screw driver was not magnetized and I can be a klutz. I replaced the console, which was easy and the thing works as advertized. Less than 45 minutes including a beer (which may have had something to do with the putting in new screws!) Thank you!!
