Default LATCH system for convertible seat?

Hello all,
I am new member, and currently shopping for a LS430. My budget is 15K or lower, so probably 01-04 models. Let me know if anyone see a well maintained LS at my price range. I am in KY, and willing to travel for the right price

I have looked around, and could not figure out if 01 or 02 model has a LATCH system in the middle of the rear seat to attach a convertible seat. LATCH is required for all cars after 02 models, but some vehicles prior to 02 has this, like our 01 Sequoia. I will need to install a convertible seat for my son, and preferably he sits in the middle for safety reason - thats why I am looking at LS If someone could confirm, I would appreciate that.

Thanks
Chris

I have a 04 and can confirm that there are only 2 sets of LATCH anchors. That being said, you should have no problem using "half" of each one to secure a seat in the middle.

You should never mix latch connections to secure a child seat; the spacing is different and there are structural attachment reasons. Unfortunately not a lot of cars have three sets of latch connections in the rear so if you want to use the middle you are stuck with the belt.

This and many other car seat related questions covered in gory detail at car-seat.org.

As Thinkin said, you can not put into center as even though you will have bottom.latches, you don't have the rear center latch which is actually more important.

You can only put on the two side seats.

There is a white '03 for $13,900 for sale by owner on Autotrader.com near Shreveport, LA that looks and sounds like a well cared for car. I believe mileage is 102,000. There is a free Carfax on it.
The LS is a very safe car with side airbags. I wouldn't be too concerned about a child not riding in the middle of the seat, especially if the child seat is a good one.

My 05 has two latch seats in the back (rear DS and rear PS). Only my LX has a middle latch seat.
