Has your car been wrecked?

The LS feels better going 85 than 65, 105 than 85, and so on. It doesn't change at it 130. I could cruise all day against the limiter, and I actually have driven it for quite a stretch that fast, multiple times. Solid as a rock, other than the blur of things going by and the needles buried it really doesn't feel all that different than going 90. Keep in mind that this governor is only there for the tires....this car feels like it could cruise 150 all day, just like an S Class.

However, I wonder if it would affect the durability of the car. The LS, designed for the US, was not (I'm assuming) designed for autobahn cruising....I wonder if it could roll with the big dogs in that respect...

Also, 131 is kinda lame. The last gen would go 155. Not that it really matters, but....

Not really sure if being wrecked has anything to do with it, maybe. Guess i would think there is some torque in the frame at that speed, unlike the A8 aluminum spaceframe this car is built for luxury not pure handling.

I am no Mario Andretti and above 120 I am all eyes all ears thinking unforeseen debris in the road, police and a diaper. I always do this when noone is on the road mind you or that would be the other unpredictable horror.

I suspect the LS was limited to 131 for the H rated tires, a smoother ride versus V rated tires.

As for being afraid to top out the car, my major concern in Louisiana is DEER! There are plenty of straight rural roads that are free of traffic on certain days of the week at certain hours, but unfortunately the deer like those hours too. They are dumb animals.

I think the European and Mid Eastern country LS430s may have gov set way higher or may have had them eliminated. Utube has multiple videos of guys in some Mideastern country going 155-160mph in LS430s - usually they got some snappy Mideastern tunes going on the car stereo doing 160mph at night...certainly impressive that the big boat goes that fast. Gonna make a mess if they hit some poor unsuspecting camel crossing the road.

I've taken my LS to a large wet empty lot and took a few spins and handling scenarios in the slick.

On one try, I was going about 35 or so and I spun it out of control to see how the car would feel... The engine cut out on me right after I spun a 360. It started right back up, but that was the only time i had something like that happen.. Still no issues... I just wanted to see how the BoSS would handle.

Im wondering if there is a fuel cutoff mechanism if the car thinks it is unstable or spinning wildly... Just my 2 cent$.

Oil pump prob. won't pick up oil properly in a spin like that.
It may be a safety measure to keep from damaging the engine.

Did you have your traction control on or off because that controls the throttle as well because giving it too much gas as the car is sliding, it's gonna kick back the throttle.

I have never used any of the settings as far as traction control in my car since I have owned it.
In South Texas it's usually hot & humid all the time and we never get snow.

Well now that I think about it, I did go to the beach and get stuck in the sand twice.. Had some buddies with jeeps help get me loose.. I tried those traction buttons like that ***** would work.. LoL It did not.

Oh well

I was caught for 110+ estimated.. (flew by the cop in a g37s.. he caught up 3-4 miles down the freeway.. For those familiar with the 405, I entered Sunset went WOT the entire time and only slowed down after I passed the 10. Got pulled over after Washington.) in 2009 it was ~$980 dollar fine , 2 points. No reckless, no jail time, no suspension of license. I got extremely lucky considering there were 4-5 squad cars pulling me over and boxing me in. I was also auto-dropped from my insurance carrier.

My ls has hit the 131 limiter with AVS visors. Aside from a slight "roar" of the wind they stayed on and the car felt pretty grounded. More-so than the G37S. IIRC, after 110-115 it takes a while to hit 130. I also ended up killing that set of tires in 10,000 miles (Some cheapo $100 a tire falkens). Those tires lasted 5-6 high speed runs to vegas and numerous attempts to slide in the rain.

Is there any difference in wind noise at 130 mph with the mirrors folded in?

I guess Canadian cars don't have a speed limiter, because I have been well over 131....

Thumbs up

I haven't really experienced any noise up to 110 MPH, and at 131 MPH there is some draft noises, but not loud. Can still listen to music @ 131 MPH at the same level as 80 MPH!

Good/wise advice!

(or go to the Autobahn :P )

But tbh, I feel all zen in the LS. No need to drive fast. Just enjoying the luxury and the great seat! To bad the front seats don't have massage, like the 7 serie and S class
