I can only think of two threads I've seen for the sunshade, one for the tension of the unit while it's extended(audible contact with the window) and another that had something to do with the linkages not working fluidly together and mildly binding over the course of its movement.

Lets be nice, I find the sunshade kind of a nuisance going up and down wish there was a switch. Tops of the rear seat/headrests feel like jerky.

My first LS (1990 LS400) had the extraordinarily rare manual rear sunshade option that was offered briefly in the early 90's.

Damn I wish it retracted automatically when I put the car in reverse - I had several close calls including at least one involving nearly hitting a person.

Guess what the car's new owner did shortly after buying it from me? (Sorry Toby if you read this!) He left the rear sunshade up and backed into something very solid - a concrete pillar if I remember correctly.

I'd be way more concerned with the safety issues of defeating the automatic rear sunshade retraction than the relatively trivial cost of repairing if it were to fail - which is unlikely.

I would guess that Lexus had the liability issue in mind when they designed the controls so it retracted whenever you backed up.

ttran832, can you please tell us exactly how/where to find the fuse in the trunk? Thanks, this will be a big help.

We have a great helpful group here. So we usually don't have to remind folks posting on this board to keep a cool head and refrain from personal comments and attacks on other posters.

Getting into a pissing contest with another member on a public board is just plain silly. So please pay attention - PLEASE REFRAIN FROM PERSONAL COMMENTS AND ATTACKS. I am closing this thread and expect better behavior from the parties involved in the future. .
